Dylan Dog: Dead of Night [Liked It]
Before you read any more, just remember my rating scale:
- Loved It
- Liked It
- Disliked It
- Hated It
Pretty simple, yes. But that’s all I/you should need. What do you think the four stars represent? Basically the exact same level of feeling.
I liked this film (not loved). It’s important that I don’t allow everyone to think that “I just love everything I see therefor my take on films today are completely useless”… Yes, I defended Sucker Punch and I didn’t hate Battle: Los Angeles and Red Ridding Hood too much.
This was a fun afternoon flick. See it with your friends [or on your own. Makes no real difference.] but I would not recommend taking a date to it on a Saturday night… it’s just not that movie.
It reminded me a lot of a ABC Family Original-Movie / Halloween-Special, but a little more mature and not as weak. Granted this film will not be the most remembered film of 2011 or even August 2011, I can tell that’s just the way it is.
They do set it up for a possible sequel, but I have a strong feeling it just won’t happen unless it’s straight to video with a lower budget and different actors that aren’t as famous or popular. Which sucks.
It was nice to see Brandon Routh as the hero again. I liked him as Superman, he was my favorite evil-ex in Scott Pilgrim, and I hope he gets more lead-roles.
Sam Huntington tried almost a little too hard as the shrieking side-kick, but that’s just the point of his character. I think they have fine chemistry together.
Once again: I’m not trying to over-credit this film. It was entertaining and enjoyable, but not the most amazing and awesome movie in a while. But it will be worth a rent in October to watch with all my friends who didn’t see it.
I don’t even understand why it was released in Spring, and not Fall. That would have made more sense for it’s genre. I know it’s been done a while and it was shelved [I think] but they could have just waited a few more months.
Final verdict: If you love Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Charmed a lot, you should like this just fine.
